This work-camp is sponsored by

Last July, a group of 9 students from English universities took part in a summer project to help Burmese immigrants and refugees in northern Thailand.

The project was run by Netherhall House in co-operation with a local NGO, the “Pree Char Yan Foundation for Help of Children and Youth”. This is a non-profit, faith based organisation with particular focus on the social and educational needs of Burmese children.

The work camp took place in Mae-Sot, near the Thai-Burma border. Our task was to build a kindergarten block for immigrant children.



We spent three weeks building the block (with two classrooms and two toilets) for the All Saints Thandiaw School. After the success of last year trip, this July we will be going again to Mae Sot to build a classroom for the St Peter’s boarding school (Orphanage) located in the jungle of the Mae Sot province.

Students from Netherhall participate in mentoring young schoolchildren under the Reachout scheme. Reachout! London is currently running a mentoring programme in a primary school in Hackney.
